Thanks! Alright then I must have messed something up while calculating
To illustrate how I come up with this I calculated the exact number of mm's that the wheels are from the hub and out. Let's call it "onset" and let this image illustrate what I mean.
Then I guess I just assumed that the bbs lm's that alot of people are running was the same offsets as tirerack is advertising and that they do not rub and look "perfect". Then I just calculated "onset" for the lm's and the oz's. Included oems for reference.
Forget the mm width and the calculations on bbs lm fronts. Seems I took the 7.5 width from above. Doesnt affect my reasoning though.
After looking at the wheel fitment guide again I think I must be missing something here. The "onset" should be the only biggest factor to consider for rub-free fitment right? If so I guess I must be off somewhere in my calculations or something.

Basically if your tires are on the correct rim width what affects a "rub-free fitment" would be offset and tire width. For example, a 245mm tire on a +35 offset wheel would be closer to the fender than a 225mm tire on the same wheel. And the fitment guide seems quite conservative to me, for good reason. The guide assumes factory ride height, alignment, no fender work, etc.

I have been looking at the volk ce28's offsets and they seem quite similiar to the oz's and I think they look fine.
Im thinking of going with:
17x7 ET49
17x8.5 ET59
And just get the beefiest tires possible. While I want it to look flush I cant say I like the idea of moving down a size from what I'm using on my 16s now (225/245)
Not too fond of buying rims that isnt as wide as oem ap2s either.
So lets say I buy those wheels. What sizes of tires would be safe?
225 in front might be ok right? But any wider and it'll be trouble?
For the back? 255 shouldnt be a problem, neither 265 if I'm reading the guide properly. What about 275s?
Then there's the staggered ratio to consider aswell I guess. To keep it at stock ap2s then 255s seem to be the closest.
With all this nonsense I seem to have talked myself into buying these sizes lol
17x7 ET49 with 225/45-17
17x8.5 ET59 with 255/40-17
The rears should be totally safe but the question is the fronts.
Those of you who are running these, what's your rim and tire sizes?

Just to keep in mind, the ASM spec Prodrives are 7.5 in front and 8.5 in rear and they know something about tuning. So I might go with the 7.5 and 8.5 combo. Their offsets I believe were +51 and +55, so it would only be millimeters off. I would think these would fill the wells perfect without rubbing as long as you don't "slam" it.

Anyone think I'll be able to run
225/45-17 in front on 7.5" ET48 with some modest lowering from coilovers?
