junk

There's much better out there.

Are you driving to the track or are you trailering? For competition use or HPDE?

If you're driving to the track, then NT-01, RE-71R, or maxxis RC-1. Everything else that is stickier or more agressive will either heat cycle out just from driving to/from the track and/or is not very safe to use if you encounter wet conditions.

witch ones would you recommend the nt01 or the maxxis RC-1.?

as in driving to the track and actually being a good tire for the buck.

more comparisons from hartanto...

http://www.prima-racing.com/update-m...vs-nitto-nt01/

Depends on your driving style. If you've driven on street tires, the nt-01 is like an RS3 that rewards more slip angle and the RC-1 is like a direzza ZII that rewards tidy/neat driving. most of my experience is on street tires (rs3, re-11a, d-zII); however reports from track acquaintances and ride alongs seem to indicate a similar feeling.

I'm partial to the NT-01 since they're good down to the cords. I also prefer the tread pattern of the nt-01 and feel that they'd do better in wet conditions vs. the rc-1 (not that i'd recommend driving either in such conditions).

I'd say pick up which ever is easiest for you to get a hold of. If that doesn't matter, then which ever suits your driving style. Good luck, and have fun.

That said, you might want to look at the BFG Rival S and the RE-71R anyway. I think they'll fair better for street use driving to the track - although I think the price point indicates that for pure track use, NT-01 and RC-1 is probably a better bang for buck. if you're doing any sort of competition, build to the rules.

my local competition favors the nt-01/rc-1 for the price point. it discourages tire wars and keeps the cost of entry for competition lower - a tire budget of one to two sets will get you through a season of competition - YMMV.

My first outing on the NT01s on my 500+hp LS2 FD was in the wet at Thompson Speedway. I was very surprised at how well they did, no problem! However, after one other event (Watkins Glen) we went back to Thompson and the wet grip was totally gone. Next event at NHMS and the rears had *nothing* in the dry, with some (not much) tread depth remaining.

Interestingly enough, street grip remained good even in cool temps! I thought they made great street tires

I'm looking forward to trying the RE71Rs this year in place of my Pilot Super Sports, which were fine new but after 2 years and ~15k miles are utter garbage, no grip at all on the street

RS3 are hands down the best street tire for tracking. I LOVE how many heat cycles they take. The R compounds are always faster but when you really drive them on edge they don't last very long. One of the local Honda Challenge drivers gets 7 heat cycles out of RR before corded.
