Default Non Staggered Setups

I notice people ask questions about various non staggered setups. Besides the mechanical rubbing questions I am wondering what these setups do to handling. Even with the staggered setup the AP!'s had a rep of being tail happy. I've driven a staggered setup (StarSpec 225 255) on my AP2 and I don't consider it tail happy but it doesn't exhibit noticeable understeer either. It seems to me a staggerd setup would create oversteer on my car from what I consider to be neutral handling. My experience is all street.

I would say that if you are not changing the suspension I would stay with the staggered set up. The car will be even more tail happy with the same tire size all the way around. The staggered, wider tires on the rear help keep the back of the car in check. If you go with a larger anti roll bar and it is more of a racing application the same size all around works well.

This tell me you have yet to push your car to the limits.

The s2000 is great handling car with little room for improvement. Most of the advantages of going to non staggered is tire rotation and equalizing out adding a larger front sway bar. a larger front bar improves rear stability a bit.

i have pushed it to the limit and exceeded it a couple of times by accident, and i like it. i have noticed the roll and more bumpsteer probably due to more roll thus greater deflection so im waiting to install my new coilovers with higher front spring rates which effectively is the same as stiffer front roll bar.
