I'd be suspicious of a lot of wheel weights, e.g. more than 4 of the stick on type weights on one side. That really sounds like a bad tire, or by chance the heavy spot on the tire matching up with the heavy part of the wheel, in which case the tech should've rotated the tire 180 degrees on the wheel.

In my experience an alloy wheel and major tire brand need only modest balancing.

More people should pay attention to their tires.

Sounds like a tire out of round. I remember having more of one of these when I used to buy Dunlop tires. I've since switched to Bridgestone and bought many for my vehicles over the years. I have never had one Bridgestone go out of round.

Have you locked up the tires at one point?? Could have created a 'flat spot'...
