Default Noise from new Dunlop Star Specs

I just bought some new Star specs for my car since the 615's I had on them were down to the indicators once again.
I ordered via tire rack, had the tires mounted and balanced, had my car corner balanced and had a new alignment done.

I have since had a "womp womp womp" sound coming from my rear tires from 60-65 MPH on and as I increase in speed the sound gets faster. At first I thought it may be my diff, but another member told me it could possibly be a bad tire? In an effort to see if the sound was in fact the tires, I switched my rears back to my AP1 stockers yesterday and the sound has now vanished!

Could this sound be caused by possibly a bad balance job? (Even though they were just balanced)

Is it possible I may have a "bad tire" from the factory?

It can be a bad tire but I can't say for sure. If you have a Goodyear store in the area I would let them take a look at the tires. I would say that a bad balance would not cause the noise. That would only cause a vibration.

Have you had starspecs before? How loud is the whomp noise? They are a performance tire so you will get some road noise from the tires, dont expect them to be super quiet like regular passenger tires.

Yeah, star specs are loud. But I got used to it.

I'll have to see if I can find one in my area... There is definitely no vibration and I have had these tires up to 140 MPH.

I went to a Goodyear store years ago and had a HORRIBLE experience and have never gone back to one since. I have moved since then so hopefully at a different location I'll have better luck.

I have only driven on Extreme Performance Summer tires since I have bought the car six years ago. I've had tires Ranging from Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's to Falken 615's and NOTHING even comes close to this noise except driving in my dads 57 bronco with his big mud slinger tires.

The noise is an audible "womp womp womp" and the rate of the noise increases as speed increases. This is not normal tire noise and is herd over my aftermarket radio system...

No vibration and tested up to 140 mph with no problems on a tire known to be loud (louder than bridgestones for sure). I'm still inclined to believe it's normal, especially on concrete (but, of course, I definitely could be wrong since I'm on the other side of the internets). It's also a common remark in the reviews: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...rt+Z1+Star+Spec

Post up a vid?

I don't know how loud you listen to your music, but I suspect not loud enough to cancel all car noise. If you've ever taken out the spare and looked at the foam between the spare well and the passenger compartment, you can see that there's not much to stop noise.

Yeah there's always that, too.

Kind of off topic but it could be a wheel bearing issue if it's coming from the rear and it gets progressively louder as speed increases. I had the same 'whomp whomp whomp' sound at the same speed and it ended up being a bad wheel bearing.
