Default Nitto NT-01 review (short review)

I started tracking not too long ago, I have 4 events under my belt but during that time I progressed from group 1 (novice) to group 4 (expert). I ran my first 3 events with hankook rs3s and thought they were amazing and switched to the nittos for this last event (ran in group 3 and group 4).

Initial impression is that they grip much much more. Im not sure about lap times as this was my first time running this configuration but at least 1-1.5 seconds per 60 second lap faster than the rs3s.

What impressed me the most though is not the outright grip but the control characteristics. I can slide the car around without losing time, actually gaining time, and the slide is progressive, well controlled and sometimes i dont even need to counter steer, just unwinding a bit of steering seems to do the trick. Steering response is also alot greater which helps alot with s-turns and quick transitions. I did not change my alignment settings but i think i can gain some time by increasing camber. Right now im running 2 degrees up front and 2.7 degrees in the rear.

I was scared to run r-comps due to fear of abrupt breakaway but these tires are very very forgiving and definitely inspire more confidence than the rs3s even though this is counter intuitive.

Wear:
The wore faster than the rs3s after 7 20 minute sessions but seemed to grip more as they wear vs the rs3s which gripped less as they wore down.

Conclusion:
I highly recommend these tires as a first r-comp tire

Nice! Your experience and review mirrors this one which just goes to show how good the NT01 is:

I also recently switched to NT-01. Was running StarSpecs prior to these. I agree with everything thanasis11 mentioned. These tires give great feedback, they're responsive, and very easy to recover from slides. I absolutely love them.

You can drive them TO the track and on the track but they arent a street tire. RS3s are certainly dual purpose though. I put the nittos on the day before each track event and switch back to my 16 inch wheels and shitty fusions right after

NT01 should be compared to Toyo R888.
the there is no surprise they grip a lot and wear fast.

how long does it take to warm them?

i wish they would come in 245-40-17....

they warm up quick, maybe after 1 lap and they are almost there (I did this in 100F degree weather so in cold weather they will need probably an extra lap or tw0). The wear is surprisingly good according to my track mates. People run them for about 10 track events (around 80 sessions) and run them all the way to the chords.

Why not just get 255/40/17? Its the same thing
