Default newbie Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 Question

I have Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 on my car when I bought it.
205/55/16 on the front
225/50/16 on the rear
I am wondering if this is the correct set up or should I have 245/50/16 for the rear since it is not OEM tires?

Tread width on the Ecsta 712 245/45/16 is 9.1-inches compared to the stock OEM SO-2 8.5-inches. The 225/50/16 Ecsta's tread width is
8-inches, which is about a half-inch less than the S0-2's. The stagger difference in tread width between your Kumho's is .8 inches while OEM stagger is 1.4-inches. Fairly significant and you'd notice the difference if you a/b'd 'em. Depending on your driving experience and preference for handling characteristics, you either will be comfortable using the current tires until they wear out and then switching or switching immediately. As you might have already guessed, the previous driver must have either 1) not driven the car very aggressively of 2) Was comfortable with the additional oversteer. Either way, a good thing to check on when selecting tires for your car is the tread width, not necessarilly the section width. It sounds like if you're even asking the question, you're better off going with the additional safety of the original OEM stagger.

I dun plan on driving the car aggressively in the near future.
how long do the Kumho's last with moderate driving?

and the weird thing is when I had the car inspected by a honda dealer, they told me the tire sizes are correct

My best guess is you will probably want to rid yourself of the combo as soon as practical if you plan on pushing your car near the limits. For most others, one should expect 12-16K from the tires but again, so much of that depends on the driver. It's never written in stone. I know folks who have put more than 20K on their Ecstas but I couldn't imagine an S2000 owner doing that.

Everybody is correct. The 245/45R16 is the better size in the Kumho. Theat being said if you are not an aggressive driver, don't worry about it. It will only make a difference in aggressive driving while you are pushing the car.

another quick questions
with the OEM's being special
do the OEM tires look wider than other 225 tires or only the actual area of contact and tread width?
I am a bit confused here.
