Jim,

Are the sizes of the RE-71R really so narrow? They are an inch narrower than the RE-11A they replace.

RE-71R
225-45-17 7.6 inches
215-45-17 7.1 inches

205-55-16 7.0 inches
225-50-16 7.6 inches

RE-11A

225-45-17 8.5 inches
215-45-17 8.1 inches

205-55-16 7.8 inches
225-50-16 8.5 inches

The sizes posted seem very narrow.

And now I'm thinking about Rivals, since they're $500 for AP2 stock sizes, and the RE-11As discount is a joke right now... $150 is a big gap in price, not sure how loud, or good in rain they are or how long they last though.

Anybody have any news on a bridgestone spring rebate yet?

The "earlier Bridgestones" are and were in no way the slowest

Let me rephrase that then. Bridgestone re11/re11A were slower than Dunlop z1/z2 and Hankook rs3 v1/v2.
Bridgestone has always been the better "all around/do everything" tire but as far peak dry grip it never out did the other mentioned tires.

I'm on the fence here. I need Ap2 rears for a track day at the end of March and the RS-3 (I have good fronts) availability it's showing 3/12 that's too close. I'm looking at the RE71-R but I'm worry at the mix and match at the track. I don't know what to do

I'm somewhat new to the forum. I got my S2000 late last summer. Its been sitting in the garage for a few months, and I'm starting to get it ready for the spring that I don't think will ever come....but tires are next.

I've been watching this thread and also trying to decide on 71R's vs 11A's. In response to the width question, the widths quoted below are tread width. The sectional width is the same on both tires. If you look at the pictures, its easy to understand...the 11A's tread pattern seems to be more on the "edge" of the tire than the 71R. Not sure which is better, and only a drive will tell. Below are some pics, but you can also look at the details and pics on the tire rack website.

FYI....I looked on the website, and the tires are showing as available today. Hopefully we can get some reports back on first hand experience soon!

It's funny, I called TR yesterday to order the Potenzas and they told me that they push back the stock day to 3/25 on 255/40/17. Can someone else call TR and confirm?
