Default Need new rear tires but can't decide

I've been reading a ton of posts on here and I can't decide what tire to go with. Right now I have 13,000 miles on the car with the factory tires. The rears are have no tread left. The only thing I don't like about the RE050 is that the tread life is horrible, 13k max! Here is what i'm looking for. BTW, I live in Miami.

High Dry Traction and High Wet Traction
At least 15-20k of tread life
No more than $180/tire

I've been looking at Yokohama, Bridgestone, Cooper, and Falken

And I drive semi agressive

thanks

I am wondering the same thing. I have 10,000 miles on my stock tires right now and have plenty of tread left. What is the widest I could/should go on the AP2 stocks for rear??

I have BFG KDW2's. Great wet and dry traction, should be around that price or less from Tirerack.com

You really should match the rear tires to the front if you are getting new replacements. Unless you are an engineer and can calculate the differences safely. I would ask Jim the advisiblity of mixing and matching different brand and type tires on an S2000.

Our car is not very forgiving if you upset the balance. Know about power oversteer?

Or simply replace all four at once.

If your fronts are fine, replace only the rears with RE050s this time and save some money until all four tires need to be replaced. Otherwise, get 4 new tires.

RE-050.

If you're going to replace all 4 and want to go cheap, get Kumho MX.

But the "best" tires are going to be an RE-050 or an Advan Neova.

I'm not trying to sound negative, but you're not going to get a tire that wears well and still have high grip. To get 20,000 miles out of rear tires you're going to have some tires that are no where near as sticky as the OEM set.

Fwiw - this is what I did, but went with 255 rears to help maintain stagger. So far all I can say is that the ride is more compliant (34psi) and grip does not seem to be too diminished - I need to push them and see how they compare, but they are definitely better than 3/32 RE050s - in the end I felt like I was driving on sand when I pushed the car. Steering actually feels better to me - there's a bit more effort at the wheel - less go kartish, more Porsche-ish, but I came from heavier cars before the S.
