I just got the word that my 17 inch wheels have been ordered from Japan, so in 4-6 weeks, I should have them.

I've been talking to my importer about the 17 inch JDM tires. The last thing I heard was that he might be able to get the Yoko A038s in the 17 inch size. I told him that I have never seen a listing for any 17 inch A038s, so he's checking on that again.

Have you considered Yoko A048? These are used for Lotus Elise as rain tires in UK. They worked really well in 2002 OTC on the Lotus 340R.

http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan/sitem...IR_BRND_CD=A048

They are available for 17" @ 225/45R17 and 245/40R17.

Lotus used to spec A038 until the A048 came out, which was much faster on the track.

Just as a reference, 245/45R16 A032R hard compound lasts about 4000 miles of street driving on RX7...the A038 and A048 are much softer...

The Saga continues...

My importer says he can get me the Yoko A-038s for the 17 inch rims.

I told him to order the tires ASAP. I'll have to pay the difference between them and the 16 inch A-038s that I already paid for.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have a UPS Tracking Number for my JDM tires!!!

I started this thread in June, so it's been a long wait. It turns out the 17 inch A038s are actually A048s, which I knew about from the beginning. I didn't want these tires initially, because they are so expensive, but now I'm happy I'm getting them.

Here they are on Yamauchi's Race Car:

Here are a couple of pics of the wheels being fitted with valve stems. The wheels came with red valve stems, so I wanted to chage them. Click on the pic for a super close-up

I hope someday I'll get them on my car....
