I am new here.

Just picked up a 2000 ap1 with ap2 V1 wheels.

There is a set of SSR Type F in Matte black for $900

Spec is 17x7.5 +48 front
17x8.5 +48 or 58 rear

Also there is a set of RPF1 for $900 as well.

Spec is 17x7.5 + 50 front
17x8.5 +55 rear
they were both on s2000 before and in good shape.

This will be my weekend toy car. May see one or two track day per year.

Need some advice please. Should I keep ap2 v1 wheels or anyone Above? The SSR are very light front is like 15.9 lbs rear like 16.3 lbs

I don't believe RPF1s were ever available in that spec, and the wheels you linked are PF01s. I don't believe that they are available in that exact spec either. Regardless I am partial to thin multispoke wheels so I'd go with the SSRs as long as the rears are the +58. +48 is on the low side and may rub with 245s. Also SSR is JDM as fuk too so you get bling bling points too.

I don't believe that either will do anything substantially better than OEMs given they're still staggered fitments but it's nice to have two sets of wheels if you street drive the car a lot and want a spare set to throw competitive tires on when you hit the track.

 

My bad, it's PF01.
The seller of SSR. He's not sure it's 48 or 58.
He said he measured it could be 48.
His fender rolled for 17x9.5 before.

Is there a way to tell if it's 58 or 48?

Assuming that he's running 225/255 stagger the rear does look like a +58 offset however the picture is really weirding me out. The rear tires look really muffin topped on that wheel, more so than I would expect either 255 or 245 on an 8.5 inch wheel. It almost looks like a 255 shoved on a 7.5 inch wheel and that would make sense if he thinks that it is +48 offset and he actually has a set of 4 front wheels all around. The counter to that is that, again, the rears do look like they're tucking in more than +48 offset. 255+48 should put the tire shoulder right at the fender lip. I would really ask him to confirm the specs. Usually it is marked some where on the wheel barrel or the inside hub face.

 

He is running 215/45r17 and 255/40r17
he won't be available until the end of the month.

So these pictures might clarify it. He has different tires front and back, the belting of the side wall may be different between the tires and cause them to sit different on the wheel. The rears seem to be the Hankook V12s and they're known for having soft side walls (very bad). You can see the shoulder grooves are different front and back in the 3/4 shot of the car as well. Not a very smart idea to miss match tires front and back even if both of those are trash tires, but I digress. With how much the rear wheel looks like it tucks in, likely it is 17x8.5+58. +58 will tuck in a decent bit while +48 will put the shoulder of the tire right at the fender lip and is very flush. With front 17x7.5+48 offset you are able to run up to 225 in the front, so I'd go with 225/255 stagger. Obviously replace the tires for something better.

These tires are really old anyway. Need to replaced.

I just found out that the offset info of SSR's use a decal on the inside of the barrel of the wheel which in many cases comes off after extended use of the wheel.

So I have to manual measure it when i get there.

One more question, if i want to run 17x8.5 +58 square. Is it going to rubber at front with 245 tires?
