Thumbs up MY05 OEM Tire Size

I was thinking about switching up my tire size to 225/45/17 fronts, 255/40/17 rears to help fill up the wheel well a little better to give the illusion that the car is sitting lower than it really is.

So the big question is; will I lose out on performance some where?

I know the tire will be heavier= more curb weight= the obvious!
Will my handling be affected?
Will I have correvt odometer readings?

Thanks all!

Mike

Is that rear size a typo? 255/40/17 is the typical +1 size in the rear.

There will be no problems if you run a 225/45 and 255/40 combo. It usually makes the speedometer more accurate because they tend to read slightly faster than actual speed with stock sizes. This really is a very small tweak and the weight and handling difference will be minimal. Just don't do anything crazy like a 55 series sidewall, that would cause some issues. It probably won't give you the look you want, but there isn't really any downside to that combo.

The only way you will loose performance is if you choose a tire that is not as high performance as what you are taking off.
If I can help let me know.

But will that set up really make the car look lower?

it would I think by about a 1/2", its something....

I have decided to go with the OEM wheel fittment Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec.
Many people feel that going with a larger tire on a smaller wheel will make the performance in the rain worse; the only reason would be if the tire lost surface traction due to the larger tire on a smaller wheel, and this would also affect handling, giving the car less traction to the ground (RIGHT) If this is true then many people have made a grave mistake when purhasing their setups (it all makes sense )

I am really not sure if going 255 will make things worse in the rain that just doesnt sound right. Can some one elaborate that theory?

How about keeping 215 in the front and 255 in the rear.

you would look like you were driving on a down slope every where you go! I have thought about doing this myself but you should keep the ratio between the front and rears closer.

CR Seems to have no issues looking like it's on a slope apparently....
