Are My Wheels Damaged?
My wheels were fine before I went to Saturday's New England S2K Owners meet. The next morning, I noticed "white spots" (for lack of a better term) on the silver lips of amy wheels:
I've tried washing with car soap, but it doesn't seem to help. I'm guessing that this is what road salt will do to wheels, but I'm not sure. So, what have I done, and what can I do to fix it?

not sure if it's available in the states (it has to be though, you guys rule the world), but try something called "PS21 wheel cleaner". it is "SPECIFICALLY" for polished wheels and is carried by most high-end wheel/detail shops here in toronto.
i had the exact same thing happen to my 3 piece simmons wheels with a polished lip and that stuff took the water spots (it's looks like water spots) right off the lip part.
it's not a spray or wax, but rather a pre-soaked rubbing pad - it's finer than the finest grit sand paper (don't let that scare you - i just don't know how else to describe it). scrub the pad vigourously over the entire lip - let sit for a minute or until it hazes/drys, then wipe the haze with a cotton cloth/towel (has to be 100% cotton).
VOILA - no more spots!!!!
it also protects for a few rainfalls/car washes - but you should do it relatively frequently (monthly or so).
hope this helps.
regards.
