Default Are my tires too wide for these wheels?

My friend said my tires are too wide? Is this true or its okay to run it?

I'm guessing the answer will be no. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in. Normally you want some preload on the side wall so you could run a smaller tire. It should be fine it doesn't look like the sidewall is hanging over to far. What size rim and what size tire is on there? That would help also to answer your question.

Actually I think the rims are a bit wide for the tire. Specs of all would be great.

The tires are 225/45 and 255/40/17

The guy that i got it from said its 17x8 +35 17x9 +35

That is right in the middle of most tire manufacturer fitment recommendations. Looks good to me, certainly no safety concerns at all. Your friend must be a hellaflush guy who wants a 205 tire on 8" wheel and 225 tire on a 9" wheel.

Was he concerned about them rubbing? Thats the only concern I would have if your fenders aren't rolled or something. Beyond that those sizes are fine. You can always do 215/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rears.
