Default Lower Profile tyres, good or bad..

I am on the look out for a set of tires for the S2000.. I know the standard size tire for the AP1 is

AP1:
rear 225/50/16 24.858"
front 205/55/16 24.878"

I'm thinking on getting a 225/45 and 205/50 profile..

I am thing of the pro's::
Lower rolling circumference = lower gear ratio = faster acceleration.
Lower profile = less sidewall movement during cornering..

con:
...

less comfort??

lets discuss if i have got it wrong altogether or if i'm on the right track..

speedo will be off and you have to go tad faster to go the same speed. tire.com aka discount tire has a tire size calculator will show how you speedo will say "shows 60 but going 57" etc

You've got the pros and cons about right. Another con is that your contact patch will be slightly smaller with a lower profile tire, but the stiffer sidewall, imho, makes up for that tremendously.

A much better option would be to upgrade the diameter of your wheel then match it with a lower profile tire.

if u run a decent summer tire like star spec or rs3 the sidewalls r stiff as crap so going lower will not benefit u

i run stock size star specs and they r pretty stiff

that makes sense, at least id have shorter service intervals and higher MPG?

never thought about ont he contact area.. would it be that much of a difference if i keep the same width?

But then I would have the same rolling diameter on the wheel, and then the gear ratio would be the same, not providing any better acceleration ??

RS3's have a really soft sidewall (Comparatively), that is why it takes 7-9 psi more in the RS3 than the similar StarSpec.

Just so the OP has the right info.
