we just bought a set of 18'' oz superleggera's form tire rack with S03's........because they dont make the s02 in that size anymore.

unfortuntately, its only now that i'm hearing about how bad a tire the s03 is........i'm starting to get worried, because if what SilverStreak said about them being unstable at speeds like 80mph, which i think would be pretty pathetic.

are the so3's really as bad as everyone is saying? i personally would tend to trust jim - he spent a lot of time on the phone with my father, working this out, as well as providing help here on this board.

it just seems like a sudden rush of negative opinions on the s03, and i dont want to get the wheels put on with those tires if they're going to be dangerous.

if i really /should/ change them, the sizes are 225/40/18 & 245/35-18. my question is, what tire could i change to before it's too late to return them? the tires have not been moutned on the car yet.

if they're going to be fine, and handle anywhere near as good as the OEM tire, please tell me so.

S03's seem good enough in my books. You won't get the same grip as the stock S02's, but they will last longer and be better in the rain.

You were able to order 245/35/18 S03's? I didn't know they make that size.

Don't let things people are saying scare you. The Bridgestone Potenza S03 is a fantastic tire. It is the top of the line tire that is being made by Bridgestone now. You won't have any problems with them.

Silverstreak is an extreemist.......at least on this subject.

I think if you do a search you'll find that the opinions are pretty much split down the middle.

IMHO the S03 is a great tire.

it seems like everyone goes to extremes on the subject -- it's either "SO3! BEST TIRE EVER!" or "SO3 KILLED MY FAMILY!" never just "it has advantages and disadvantages."

i think we should just roll them, and if they sux0r, we return them.

yeah, i dont think they make them in 245/35/18 - must be 255/35/18 - it's what i have anyways...

i've had 'em for a year and i actually like the tire - pretty quiet, good dry traction, great wet traction, good feedback etc.

pirelli p-zeros are no slouches either - if they're good for ferrari and porsche, i'm sure they'd be just fine for my Honda!!

at the end of the day, it all depends on what the buyer is looking for.

regards,

I think you will like the tire but if you don't, they do have a 30day money back gaurantee. By the way it was 225/40R18 and 255/35R18. The S03 in the OE sizes may not be as good in the dry but there aren't any tires that are. In the wet and ride quality and tread life the S03 would be a little better.
Given that you went to the 18" that gives the S03 a little bit of an advantage because you have the lower profile tires and a wider tire front and rear.
Just let me know what you think.
Once again, thank you

Jim

i must also add that i luv the s03's as well. i have a set of them on my dads sc430. 245 40 zr 19 and 275 35 19's
its true that in perfect condition they may not perform as well as the so2's but the over all feel of them is fantastic. i ll be buying them for my 18's as soon as tire rack gets my wheels in. come on jim, get those things in already

Well I don't agree with that at all. I've been over 130mph more times than anyone probably should be on my SO3's and they have been just fine, actually they ride extremely smooth even at those speeds. I haven't had an issue with grip as of yet either...

BTW, I'm on 18's too...
