Default Lets flip the face

Hey guys I just picked up some BBS LM wheels, 17x8, 17x9 +35 all around Gold w/polish lip, ISH SAWPER HAWT!. So I want to give it more lip by flipping the face to the back of the wheel and from what I've seen is that it'll give you 1/2" lip more, correct? But what I'm most curious about is how much of my offset will change? I saw someone from the Scion forums have somewhat of a follow through on what to do and he said that you get a +5 offset so my wheels would become +30 all around but then I did more browsing and I find that some people from here are saying you get a +10-15 offset making my wheels +25-20 all around, which is it??? I'm also looking to get new tires for these bad boys and I was thinking 235/45/17F, 255/45/17R would be appropriate? Open to any suggestions or comments.

I just posted a thread about this below, but in regards to what FT lbs i need to torque the bolts to when I flip the faces.

Flipping the faces makes the offset more aggressive by 15mm. With your +35 offsets, they will then change to a +20 offset, which you may want to reconsider as not many ppl are running that low of offset.

Hope this helps you.

+20 will not work wihtout a wide body or mad camber

i think theres companies that can change the inner barrel part with a wider one to add some width to the inside of the wheel.

Thank you for the response guys.

So flipping the face wouldn't be such a great idea I was really hoping to get more lip.

camuman - How much "mad" camber would I need to fit these wheels if I were to flip the face?

Also here is the site where I found the Scion with the BBS LM wheels.

Camber would not even help with a 20mm offset. You would have to pull the fenders out.

um..i think it would be around +30...the scion guy did not flip the faces, he just mounted them from the inside of the barrel instead of the front..

Okay now I'm confused, apologies for my newbness. So what exactly is flipping the face for the BBS LM? And doing both actions you gain the same result of 1/2" lip size but the difference is offset change?

Thats what flipping the faces involves - Mounting the face on the BACK side of the barrel, which will make the wheel 15mm more aggressive, instead of mounting the face on the FRONT side of the barrel lip.

If the wheels are +35 and you flip the faces, it will be +20.

Having a look at those LM's, It looks like they are only a +35 offset AFTER the faces have already been flipped. Maybe its just me, but the wheels have minimal lip and for a 8/9 +35, they should have more lip then the first few pics shown.

I would research on the BBS wheel thread for 8/9 +35's to confirm.

flipping the face is a -8 offset..so it would make your offset +27
