Interesting that the Bridgestones outgripped the RS3V2s. Can someone confirm this? I've been out of the street tire realm for awhile but would still like to know if this is in fact true.

Yea, I saw this Tire Rack Review and was impressed.

So, I now have 4 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R's mounted on Enkei RPF1's.

I've had this 06 for 8 years and ~65k miles. I've been through a few sets of treads. These are (by a wide margin) the funnest tires I've ever put on this ride.

They are very, VERY sticky. I haven't been able to get sideways yet, but give me some time, I'll figure it out.

Highly recommended!

RS3 have now come in last place. Amazing how quick things change in the tire races these days. Every year they come out with something better. Great to know Kuhmo is back in the game with the v720 and right there with the R-71 on ult dry grip and handling. Looking forward to trying these out next year.

For some reason, I'm still skeptical about the 71R. I just read they don't like slip angle so does that make the RS3 potentially faster for a driver that may use more slip angles? I need a set of streets for Global Time Attack, torn between the 71R and RS3. I know the RS3 well, not sure I'd like a new relationship with the new girl on the block.

If you are doing one hot lap like you will be at GTA, then I think the RE71R or the Rival S will be the tire of choice. I think the RS3 V2 really shines in higher heat and longer runs though.

Yeah you're right Chris. I guess I'm trying to justify paying an extra $150 plus per set for one event.

Yeah, the RS3 V2 price was too tempting to pass up for me, plus their 255/40/17 is super wide. I have already commited to buying a set of Hankook TDs just for GTA NOLA, or I would offer to buy your street tires afterward, haha. You can still probably get good money for them. I will probably use up my Hankook TDs and RS3 V2s before Hohos.

Chris- anyway to see the entry list for GTA? I can't seem to find it anywhere. You may not want to buy shaved street tires.

I'm quite disappointed that the RS3s are being out gripped, but the new RE71 looks very promising. They might have to be my next set of tires.
