Default Kumho,yoks or stay with S02's ???

Hello,
I am looking to get either the Yoko ES100's or the Kumho Supra 712 for the S. I Guess we cant get the Kumho MX,s in our size. I wanted to get some feedback on these 2 compared to the S02's. Is there a significant loss in dry traction. It looks tempting due to the cost?

Thanks!

In order to answer this question, we need to know what you are looking for or what you are trying to fix?

I am using Kumho 712's and I was looking for more mileage, while giving up as little as possible. According to Tire Rack's figures, I have around 20% less traction than the OEM S02's. Can you notice the difference? Sure you can, but I don't have any trouble staying up with everyone on our group drives. I would say that these tires will have better long term wet traction than the S02's, due to their tread design. I have no hydroplaning problems with them. I am happy with this compromise and the price was a bonus. Price was not a factor in my buying decision.

Good luck with your decision,
Bob

I just got a set of the Yoko's and I like them. Not as sticky as the S02's, but better riding and a great price.

I've been harping about kuhmo's ecsta mx's all last summer, however I find myself going back to s03's so I'd go with s02's

Yokos over Kumho's, but I would do S02's over Yokos!

What about S03? The dry traction isn't as good as S02, but you get better mileage w/ them.

Not an S2000, but on my old 3000GT VR4 I tried the Kumho 712's and they were so terrible I gave them away after 3 weeks. Traction was horrible, response was horrible, overall terrible compared to the previous set of Sumitomo HTRZ II's they replaced. The Sumitomo's were 265/35ZR18 and the Kumho's were 275/35ZR18.

I just got back from "testing" my Kumho 712's in about an inch of snow. Everyone complains about how bad the OEM S02's are in the snow.....wait until they try the Kumho's.

These tires are worse in the snow than the S02's are. Time to put my snow tires on. For a sanity check, I drove my wife's Odyssey to fill it up and it was no problem in the snow.
