Which tire would you choose for better performance, being that they both have a higher wear rating than the original S-02's.

Also if anyone knows, are the 245's for the rear what I would be looking for in both cases or just for the Kumho's???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

IMO, I think Kumho will have better performance, but Yoko will last longer.

We tested the tires head to head and the Yokohama ES100 was better handling in both wet and dry. I would think treasd life would be about the same on these two tires.

Here's what I think you need to consider as far as sizing goes.

The stock S02 dimensions are:
F 205-55/16 Sect 8.1" Tread 7.1" Diam 25"
R 225-50/16 Sect 9.2" Tread 8.5" Diam 24.8"

Kumho 712
F 205-55/16 Sect 8.4" Tread 7.2" Diam 24.9"
R 245-45/16 Sect 9.6" Tread 9.1" Diam 24.9"
R 225-50/16 Sect 9.2" Tread 8.0" Diam 24.9"

Yoko ES100
F 205-55/16 Sect 8.3" Tread 7.5" Diam 25"
R 245-45/16 Sect 9.7" Tread 9.4" Diam 24.6"
R 225-50/16 Sect 8.5" Tread 8.3" Diam 25"

I think the key measurement here to maintain the correct "stagger" is the front to rear Tread width difference.

As you can see the stock number for this difference is 1.4"
The Kumho 245-205 number for this difference is 1.9"
The Yoko 245-205 number for this difference is also 1.9"

This is a comment I got from an earlier thread I had on Toyo 245 rear tires. "You will have better understeer control and quicker acceleration out of the corner with the 245/45. The contact patch is better and the wheel diameter is smaller. It gives you a slight "gearing" effect out of the turn."

Note that the Toyo RA1 245-205 difference is 1.5" (9.0" -7.5"). This is real close to the stock stagger of 1.4" I have these in the 245-205 combo on my car now, and so far at full tread depth they feel great. Sorry I can't quantify any better than that, but the butt-meter says they stick great, and track straight.

So I think on the stock suspension/wheels, you should use the 245-205 combo for both the Kumho and the Yokos.

My concern is that the Kuhmo's won't grip as well as the S02's in dry. I love the way my car corners, though I don't track it at all. The only thing I do is 1/4 mile every so often. Will the Kuhmo's not corner as well or hurt my 60' times at the track, as compared to the S02's?

I'm pretty sure that the S02s are the best out there.

Not much will compare to them, but I haven't driven on the Kuhmo's.

I am worried about the sidewall stiffness. That bothered the piss out of me with the Dunlop SP 5000 Sports.

I just bought 2 new rear Yokohama AVS ES100's as per Jim's recommendations, can't wait to get them on...
