Its been a consideration. I do like me some LM20 or Classics. But they are going to be a fair bit more expensive yet, and up the total weight package a significant amount I'm afraid. Ive invested roughly $550 a wheel with the rpf1 and the total weight on the heavy one, the 11.5" with 295 is 47lb. Now being back to N/A id rather not go with a heavier wheel set. I just want the damn v720 in my size to come out already. Its been this dangling carrot in front of my face lol. Its release will give me many more years of use once it comes out. I am in a bit of a bind for the moment, but hard to want, nor could I even afford basically 4k in a whole new custom 18" wheel set at the moment. 18" tires are nearly $100 more per tire as well, so I have to keep that in mind for the future. That would kill me to move to 18" now to then see a few months or a year later the v720 available which i can no longer run becuase of my decision to solve my immediate issue.
I will prey with you for a extreme performance tire in 295/35/17 as I'm also running this size.

But if I were you I would just run asm +25mm fender flares and run a 10-15mm spacer on you current 17x11.5+63 rpf1's and just run an extrempermance tire in 315/35/17 size.
That has been another consideration. But I don’t really like the look of the over fenders enough to want to sacrifice the car ive decided. And as cool as a 315 would be, it presents some other less ideal obstacles. The larger 25.7" overall diameter is one of them for a couple reasons. The other issue is keeping the rear tires evenly heated so they perform. It’s possible to do I think, with dialing back to minimal camber (like -1) but not how the car sits. So I would need to find some kind of camber joint to add + camber ideally, or have to raise the car to stock ride height levels, which is a compromise im not willing to make. There is a lot of technical things to consider when you want the car to perform well for the track and even street, and if I start messing around with changing the set up, ive got to make sure im looking at all angles - Certainly expensive or irreversible things. I hate the idea of spending a bunch of money to still be left with more compromises then I have now. Minus the immediate tire availability issue, the set up is an excellent one, that’s why I did it. I think im just going to have to hurry up and wait some more.

Yes, and at least the wheel design would match.

Your still talking an average 5-6 week turn around time this part of the season to get the wheels widened and $1100 for the pair bought and widened, plus $700 for the tires? vs IF the Kuhmos were available right now, it would be just shy of $600 out of pocket delivered. So $1800 vs $600. The only guys willing to buy my rear wheels would be wide body guys that maybe want to run the 315/35/17. So a slim market on resale makes me not want to give them up either. Would ease the consideration if I could make $500 back on them or something to put towards the 18". I do like the idea of going with a shorter sidewall for less deflection.

You know the CF5 can be made in the sizes you want. Classic 5 spoke wheel.

I know still not the ideal situation since it would be a full new set of wheels but maybe something to consider for next year.

I've seen a few videos on youtube on japanese tracks where the V720 is nearly an entire second behind the RS3 kooks in best laptimes on a two minute track. But I'm sure we've all heard the rumors that the compound overseas is different then it will be here, so I will reserve judgement till then.

So I know this is back from the dead, but I read a Viper ACR review today and because of the praise for the tires I decided to check out Tire Rack - The 720s are out and are cheaper than RS-3 V2s. Anybody else try them yet? I haven't seen any mention on the R&C subforum.

On another note, now I'm kicking myself for purchasing closeout BFG Rivals in February.

I still have yet to see any credible review of them. I am also struggling with the V720 versus RS3 decision right now.

245/40 is the largest size available right now in 17's, so you likely won’t get any real good feedback until next spring/summer when the remaining larger sizes are released. If they are anything like the XS which they should, they will be a good tire and should have a firmer sidewall for more precise handing over the RS3, which are known to be the most compliant/vague handling over the other extreme summer line up. I suspect the v720 will be more akin to the Z2/starspecs in behavior.

Not bad at all, right in the mix there, and better then the RS3 looks like in most categories. Far better in the wet then I was anticipating. The new RE-71 is proving to be quite the bad ass tire. Too bad they don't make any big 17's.
