Kumho Ecsta V720
#52
Stolen from somewhere else. On initial testing, these look to be on pace with the OLD Dunlop Z2. More testing will be completed though as the tires come in. Kumho says the tires are stuck in the Long Beach port, but are expected to make the SCCA inventory deadline by 4/30/15.
It will probably be a perfectly fast tire for 90% of the people on s2ki.

So these are finally available and the brand new Viper ACR was just released today and while its competitors are all rocking the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s or the Pirelli P-Zero Corsas, it is coming with a set of specially designed ACR Kumho V720s. They seem to think this tire is pretty damn quick. I look forward to reading some reviews on these as I was a big fan of the Kumho XS and used them throughout my time doing HPDEs.

I talked to Chris at kuhmo USA product development department last week, about what he new about the release of the big boy sizes and he said he doesn't have an exact date but speculated the earliest being this Winter, and most likely not until this time next year. Ugh! There goes my track plans this August!

A set of CCWs is probably pretty close to what your custom RPF1s ran you.

Its been a consideration. I do like me some LM20 or Classics. But they are going to be a fair bit more expensive yet, and up the total weight package a significant amount I'm afraid. Ive invested roughly $550 a wheel with the rpf1 and the total weight on the heavy one, the 11.5" with 295 is 47lb. Now being back to N/A id rather not go with a heavier wheel set. I just want the damn v720 in my size to come out already. Its been this dangling carrot in front of my face lol. Its release will give me many more years of use once it comes out. I am in a bit of a bind for the moment, but hard to want, nor could I even afford basically 4k in a whole new custom 18" wheel set at the moment. 18" tires are nearly $100 more per tire as well, so I have to keep that in mind for the future. That would kill me to move to 18" now to then see a few months or a year later the v720 available which i can no longer run becuase of my decision to solve my immediate issue.

But if I were you I would just run asm +25mm fender flares and run a 10-15mm spacer on you current 17x11.5+63 rpf1's and just run an extrempermance tire in 315/35/17 size.

You ever think about just keeping 17's in the front and running 18's in the rear Junky? Not ideal, but not a terrible option either. You get to keep the cheaper and lighter package up front, and not have to worry about wide enough 18's for the rear. Of course, two custom CCW's aint cheap either..
