I use track as short for traction sorry for any confusion. I'll edit.

Well, got my Kumho's on yesterday (just had back tires replaced). Had a new set of back tires on a week ago, but wrong size and looked ugly. Tire guy is great and took those back and got me some more! Odd story...I took it out for a drive to the town about an hour away. Zig-zaged about over the place. Anyway, I took it to one of those car wash bays and rinsed it off and cleaned off the tires (you know when new, they look ugly). Anyway, the sun hits the front tire and it says "Kumho" not Potenza. I thought "You are kidding me... they put both tires on the same side!!!! I just drove 100 mph on those things!" Went around to see the other side, and they all were Kumho's. Installer guy took the back ones (the set I was returning) and put them on the front and put the new new ones on the back! I called and told the guy.... Gheeee thanks for 2 free tires!! Well... I went back and got my original front tires put back on. Installer guy... I would hate to be him. I think he was in just a little bit of trouble

Got the call today that my ASX's were in, and I just got back from having them installed. The weather here is crummy, and so far I have only driven back from the tire place, butmy initial impressions are good. The tires seem quieter than the potenzas (could be my imagination), and the ride seems a tad smoother (also maybe my imagination). My main goal with these is to have better all weather performance, and most of all, get longer treadlife out of them. the guy at the tire place thought I'd get 30k easy, so I am keeping my fingers crossed...

uppitychick,

You were in a PERFECT position to negotiate a great deal on the two extra tires. Maybe you should call them and offer them half price.

btw, I'm running Khumo MX's and have very mixed feelings about them. The tread wear is definately better than SO2's. But I tracked them a few weeks ago and they were LOUSY! The rear end broke loose with just a hint of accelleration in turns.

I guess for daily urban driving they are fine, but they don't compare to SO2's in performance.

I live in Chi burbs and it's been really cold lately. What I have noticed is that the traction on the car gets worse in the cold regardless of the pavement being dry. I almost spun out on an exit ramp and I wasn't really pushing it. I'm not sure if most tires will exhibit such characteristics in the cold.
Anyways, for being cheap tires( which have good ratings on tirerack), you will need to get accustomed to the cold weather performace. I cannot compare to any other brand so feel free to comment on this.

DID I PUT THE RIGHT SIZE TIRES ON? UPPITYCHICK changed them out......

Well, I had put 225's on the rear, they fit, but I did not like the way they looked from behind. I like the wider-looking tire, like the S02's. I like the 245's on the rear. But... I got the Ecsta 712's, not the MX's. We don't have snow here or winter driving conditions. The S02's are better, though. I hear they don't make them anymore and now the S03's are the ones to get, but they COST way more than the S02's...Can't catch a break.

MX's are the closest thing to S0-2's that Kumho makes. Since I sold my old wheels I'm now riding on stockers again with S0-3's and I like the Kumho MX's much better. But if you want something that is super (maybe a tad on the expensive side) look into Goodyear F1's.

You want to be sure you're looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 for pricing - I have no idea which model you were looking at. Most of the other models of the F1's are much more expensive than that

I purchased the F1 GS-D3's in 225/40/18 and 245/35/18 for $186 and $210 each just last week from Tirerack. If you're riding on stockers it will be substantially less
