I have Ecsta Supra 712's on mine. They came with the car and i've only put a couple thousand miles on them. I've autocrossed with them once and they performed pretty well, except the rear was moving out a bit more than I would've liked (note: I'm not talking about snap oversteer or anything like that, the rear moved out in a controlled/controllable fashion.) Dry traction is really good. Very linear response and vey predictable towards the limit of traction. I can't speak for it's wet traction though; I've had a couple mishaps. I'd like to think that was more driver error though, than the fault of the tires.

712 = good tire at a great price

(I will be upgrading to BFG's next time around, though)

I have 712s on mine now and I don't know what you guys are talking about. IMO they suck. The rear end is very loose, which is fun but not for fast aggressive driving. Granted, I have single exhaust and a gutted trunk but still, even with a trunk full of crap the rear just doesn't have the traction that this car should have. I will be going with new tires soon because the 712s (came with the wheels I bought) just aren't my style.

Do we see a pattern here?

Second, when reviewing a tire, it's easy to bias on the new tires freshly put on because any new tire will perform better than the bald tires swapped out and the deep tread will always provide better ride and be more forgiving and less likely to hydroplane.
How many more times will we see a bad review of a tire that comes with:

- the tires came with the car
- the tires came with the wheels I bought
- the tires have been sitting in the garage for years

On the flip side, at least they mention about the history of their particular tires so that we can evaluate the usefulness of their reviews.

The MX's have great reviews at tirerack by people that bought them. It seems that alot of M3 owners have switched to the MX's.

For under $400 for a set of 4 shipped to your house with no tax it is an amazing deal.

I'm gonna give these MX's a shot.

They also seem to do very well in the Car and Driver tire tests. They don't win the tests but the MX's are going against some very pricey tires.

I read one review where a guy cut 8 seconds off his lap time at Thunder hill using the MX's compared to when he was using the 712's.

I also found this. This was in another thread about the Khumo MX's

This is a quote from a post that Jim@tirerack.com wrote.

They are about as good as you can get for the track in a street tire. Especially when you look at the price. They turned in the best skid pad times in the dry testing here in a tire test.
If I can help let me know.
Does that mean that they have better skid pad numbers than the SO2's?

Most of these threads are alittle old. Anyone care to reserect this thread and post on the wear and performance of thier MX's?
