Default Jim (or ne1 else knowledgable) can you help out on an Acura TL?

My stepmom has a 2003 Acura TL with the factory wheels and tires. Against my advice, she's moving ahead with putting 17" chrome wheels on the car. (FWIW, I advised against the chrome becuase of the increased maintenance and the increased weight).

I'm trying to make sure she doesn't make a tragic mistake and put on the first piece of crap that she likes.

My understanding is that she will need to go to a 215/50/17 tire. What size wheel and offset should she be looking for? 17X7 I'm guessing based on the current wheel but I have no idea about offset ranges.

The car will not be lowered and the move is purely for looks.

Also (yes, I'm getting greedy), any recommendations for a tire? She lives in AZ so snow isn't an issue. Her concerns are ride quality, noise levels, treadwear and then performance.

Your help would be sincerely appreciated.

Why don't you just pick up a set of 17" TL Type S wheels. They look fantastic on the car. Here is what they look like on my Odyssey.

We have wheels to fit the Acura in 17" on our web site. You can go with the 215/50R17 or 225/50R17 tires on the car.
Let me know if I can help.
Thank you

Try posting on http://www.acura-tl.com
I would suggest at least a +48 offset for 7.5" width!
And 225 width tires.
