Default JIM: critical question for ATE premium one pads

I got a set of ATE premium brake pads from TireRack for my moms WRX wagon. The pads came with a packet of what looked like caliper grease (same texture, sort of golden colored) however the packet was labeled "anti-squeal" so I placed this stuff on the back of the pad (between pad and shim). There was no mention of what this stuff is in the generic directions included with the pads.

The issue is that it seems to be running a bit and I am concerned that it will get on the braking surface of the rotors and pads.

Can you confirm if this is caliper grease or pad backing anti-squeal goop? Thanks.

99.764% sure your assumption was correct and everything is fine.

I agree since it does not make much sense to include caliper grease with brake pads BUT the stuff really looked like grease (golden colored, and about as think as your typical bearing grease) and unlike any anti-squeal goop I have ever used (not pasty or anything like the Brembo golden colored anti-squeal). It is also running off the pads (once heated while driving) onto the rotor hat and is slick like grease.

Hopefully TireRack will confirm one way or the other.
