Default Jim, or anyone else that knows

Recently I had my new rear s02's installed and the fronts swapped side to side, somehow all 4 rims got scratched in this process. The front two are the worst and one of those will simply need to be replaced.

They have offered (kindly) to replace the damaged wheel and have the others re-finished if I would like. The place they are ordering the new front rim from is in Indiana( this is also the place they will send my other rims to get fixed) and I seem to remember the Tire rack being from there and wondered if there might be a connection? My local tire shop (Tires Plus) said the new rim is about $125 and that they can re-finish the other rims in about a week turn-around. Has anyone had luck with having OEM rims re-finished in this manner?

My next problem will be getting everything re-mounted without new scratches . The machine they use is a Coats.

TIA for any advice or help

Paul

There is a very slight difference between '00-01 wheels and '02-03 wheels. I don't know which is referred to as metallic, but basically they need to know what year your car is.

Is this re-finishing of OEM wheels a good idea?

I believe they are using a company called Transwheel. They are good and just deal with OE wheels. They do not have any relationship with the Tire Rack.
Even with the Coats machine they should not scratch the wheels. It was probably just sloppy work.

Jim thanks for the help. You are correct, Transwheel is who Tires Plus will be buying from. The only problem now is Transwheel whants to know if I have the silver or the metalic finish ??!? I,ve already explained I have a MY02 but that doesn't seem to help.

grrr..anyone know what an OEM front rim for a MY02 runs?

thanks again
