IDEAL OFFSETS FOR NON-MODIFIED sans RUBBING
Hey Guys:
A friend of a friend has an MY05 with the following tire specs. I think they look great, but he has no idea of his wheel offsets as he bought the car used. We did measure the wheels' lips. It seems he has at least 1 1/2" on the front and at least 2" at the rear. BTW, his car isn't lowered, nor modified in any way except for the wheel/tire deviation. He also claims that he has never experienced any rubbing whatsoever.
His wheels & tires specs as follows:
F: 18 x 8.0 225/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT
R: 18 x 9.5 255/35/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT
Is it possible to guess the approximate offsets of these wheels?
TireRack carries these tires which I'll probably end up purchasing from them.
I guess if I chose to go with the same wheel diameter and width, would a +55 offset ideal for both front and rear wheels and still be able to use 225/40/18 & 255/35/18 and not experience any rubbing whatsoever? I know that this will also depend on the brand of tires I use, however, based on the "wheel fitment guide," it seems +55 offsets are acceptable. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If 9.5" doesn't exist on the wheels that I like, would an offset of +55 ideal on a 9.0" with 255/35/18 tires for the rear? Or should I go for a lower offset to achieve at least 2" lip width?
I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

He has no pics of his wheels, but will take pics when I get a chance to see him. Anyhow, he told me that they are "Z Forged"? I tried to google it but no "z forged." Perhaps I misheard him over the phone or I spelled it correctly (probably both).

You can't really approximate offsets, but if you choose to get wheels, just post the sizes and offsets and i'm sure someone will help you out.
I'd rather have an 18x9.5 +55 than 18x9.0 +55 (the extra 1/2 inch stretch on the 255 tire may help with rubbing, and the wheels will sit with a more aggressive stance and fill the wheel well in the rear nicely)
