Default HRE 560R (sorry, thinking of changing my option)

hey guys. thanks a lot for pitching in with your views earlier. after reading through your comments, i am now considering 18s! this change of mind runs counter to my earlier logic for 17s: weight saving!

but, after reviewing the stock rims (17"), HRE C70 (17") and HRE 560R (18"), it is clear that going to 18s would not be a weight penalty with respect to stock setup. here is now:

stock 17":
front: 17x7.0; 20.6 lbs; +55
rear: 17x8.5; 21.8 lbs; +65

tires, RE11:
front: 215x45-17: 25 lbs (approx)
rear: 245x40-17: 25.5 - 26 lbs

---

HRE 560R, 18":
front: 18x8; 19 lbs; +53
rear: 18x9.5 20.5 lbs; +55

tires, RE11:
front: 225x40; 26 lbs
rear: 255x35; 27 lbs

---

as you can see, the 18" setup equates to stock 17" specs. granted, i am not saving any weight; but, i am not increasing the weight either, while gaining other benefits! i do like the 560R a lot better than C70. the price of the wheel set goes up by about 1k. when i started looking at these wheels, i was not a fan of the exposed fasteners. after revisiting the 18 option, i love the way 560R looks.

of course, there are number of other brands on 18s that are way lighter than HREs. but, i like this model the best. it would have satin silver center and polished outer.

thanks a lot.

henry.

Those would look very nice. I'm going to be getting a set of iforged variants at some point. I will definitely be going 18. Take a look at the iforged wheels. You may like them. I want a full polished face for my set up, although I do like the heat as well.

18's are big - big as hell. Stick with something in 17.

you are right. 18s are actually big. that's one of the reasons why i chose 17s. but, 18s do look cool though! and, there are more models and styling to choose from than 17s.

here is an update:

i had to abort my wheel upgrade project! HRE wouldn't make 560R that i wanted in 7.5" width (for the front)! it's too narrow! bummer! i don't want any other wheel!

besides, i got the Boxster Spyder bug! it just wouldn't go away. i have a thread in 'Car Talk' tittled 'Boxster Spyder'. most likely i am gonna dump the S2K in next summer (2011). so, i don't want to spend any money on an upgrade. i need to save up!

thanks for pitching in with your comments and suggestion. really appreciate it.

cheers.

I Love HRE's. I wish I could have a set for the summer time. Hmmmm.

Love the sizes and specs. I have a 8.5 +55 with a 255. I think a 265/35 would look really nice on the 9.5, and give you a 40mm stagger like a CR has. Have to roll the rear though. Just a thought...

Great choice on style also!

Oh yeah, POST PICS when you get them!
