Default How should I stagger Tires

It's time to get a new set of tires for my 17x9 +45 RPF1s, and I'm really confused about what sizing is best for my set up. Currently have 235/40/17 front and 245/40/17 rear, but the brands are different.

I want to get all four the same brand (Hankook Ventus V12), but it doesn't seem they carry it in the 235/40/17; only the 235/45/17. I've heard the 235/45/17 is a funky/weird size? Is this true at all, or is it just a very subtle difference?

Not sure if it will make a difference but I'm lowered on eibach pro kit and koni yellow (lower perch)

Thanks for any advice!

i'd just get 245 or 255/40 all around. you bought non staggered wheels, get non-staggered tires

235/45 fronts (25.4") will look very big/beefy relative to 245/40 rears (24.7").
How much clearance do you have now? Might go either 245/40 all around or 245/40 fronts with 255/40 rears.

i assume this is just for a daily driver? nothing wrong with a 235/45. but as mentioned, it won't match a 245/40. if you want to go staggered you can do a 225/45 front and a 245/40 rear. only a 3mm difference in sidewall height. personally, that's what i'd go with.

How is the size difference between 245/40 and 235/40? Are they relatively the same? I still have SOME clearance left, but I still rub in the rear once in awhile. I hardly ever rub in the fronts though. I'll take some pictures tonight and let you guys judge

the 235/40 will have a 4mm shorter sidewall and give you a little stretch on a 9" wheel.

Yes, this is a daily driver. If I decide to go 245/40 all around as oppose to 225/45 front 245/40 rear, what difference will I notice?

Too bad you’re rubbing in the back. I'd either dial in a little more negative camber to correct that, or roll/cut the fenders and go with a 255/40 in the back and either a 225/45... 235/40... 245/40 up front. I would not run a 235/45. It’s too tall a profile for my taste. If anything go with a shorter profile up front if you don’t match the rear, as it will benefit your turn in grip and steering response. But just fyi the 225/45 is a perfect match to the 255/40 as far as sidewall height and maintaining OEM width stagger.

Being your running a non stagger with 9" wheels. I would run a 255R/245F set up.

you'll notice that your front tires are cheaper! narrower tire up front will give you better steering response. it will also give you a little more understeer bias. running non-staggered tires will give you more oversteer bias. outside of that it's just depends on the look you are going for....

I think I will stick with a 245/40 in the rears. I have -2.6 camber in the back and still rub. I'm sure throwing in a 255 will rub even more right? I guess I'm leaning more towards a 225/45F 245/40F set up.
