Default How much heavier are the Phat HRE wheels over the OEM wheels? Well let me tell ya !

I removed a front and rear wheel/ tire off of my S2K today for the sole purpose of weighing them and comparing to the stock setup. I weighed the stock tire and rim for the front and rear first. These tires have less than 500 miles on them and look like new. The HREs I weighed are 545 w/ anodized centers and polished outerlips. The front is 8.5x18" wearing a 245/35/18 P-Zero w/ the Smartire sensor installed(doesn't weigh enough to worry about IMO). The rear HRE is 10.5x18" wearing a 285/30/18 P-Zero w/ the Smartire sensor installed. Here are the results:

OEM front wheel/tire= 41 lbs.
OEM rear wheel/tire= 45 lbs.
_______________________
total of (4) -2 ea. = 172 lbs.

HRE front wheel/tire= 50.5 lbs.
HRE rear wheel/tire= 58 lbs.

total of (4) -2 ea. = 217 lbs.

That's a total of 45 extra lbs. of unsprung weight. Even though this is quite a bit more than I thought the difference was; I have no plans of trading my HREs in. I figure that with my future FI mods I will need the extra traction. Also in grip, looks, and craftsmanship; IMO, the HREs can't be beat.

doesnt' seem that much of a difference if you think about it - you DO have lots more meat under the corners! especially w/10.5 inches in the rear! wow! just incredible man. I love that setup.

those rims should weigh about 24-25lbs compared to 18-19 lbs for oem rims.

I'm thinking more like 20-21lbs vs. 16-17lbs w/ tires accounting easily for the balance.

unfortunately they're 25lbs stated by HRE themselves.

what offset are the front HRE's and how much are u lowered, and do the ever rub?

i just mounted 225/45 17 on mugen MF10, i believe 7.5" width with 52mm offset, after 215's were replaced.
i'm lowered 1" in front. i've gotten a couple rubs on moderate hard compressions.

any thoughts? has anyone flattened the inner fender lip on their s2k, or know if this is worthwhile?
