no further investigation needed...you don't have stock gears.

dear god change your tires man.....

205
225

^ HORRIBLY SMALL ESPECIALLY WITH GEARING, how can you even hook up with such thin tires.

Run some 225's up front and some 255's in the rear IMO, but that's ap2 sizing, for you i'd run 215/245 though. That's just me.

Soooooo. I have confirmed via GPS that honda's 245 rear tire on the ap2 is actually causing the speedo to read about 1.5-2 mph faster than actual speed.

And i found that installing 255 width tires will correct the speedo

This is evident due to the difference in the rolling diameter between your typical 255 and 245. In each case the 255 tire netted a correct speedo reading.

245 re50 vs 255 re50
245 re50 vs 255 kumho
245 re50 vs 255 bgf

I base my results on data collected in my 04 s2k and my 06 s2k both of which resulting in the same difference of 1.5-2mph and a correct speedo reading when running 255 width tires.

of course we all know that Honda did make the mistake on ALL hondas with the milage calculations. But it seems the easy fix is to step up to a 255 series tire in the rear (and maybe match with a 225 in the front)

The 08 CR already has 255 in the rear.

Just thought i would share my finding with you all.

kenneth
I believe you are correct. About a year ago there was a class action lawsuit and Honda decided to extend the warranty for an additional 6 months or refund ~$1100, dont remember exactly.

On my AP1, I've been running 17" wheels with 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear tires and I LOVE the setup.

That's normal. Most cars do this. Here's a report of the 350Z reading about 3mph high at 60.

And BMWs do it too:

Other examples can be found if somebody is interested enough to do more searching.

This "misreading" is a federal law to guarantee that the speedometer cannot create a speeding situation while you think you are legal.

Anyone else find it funny that Honda lost a lawsuit, despite being within FMVSS standards. I find it funny that a company can meet all rules and regulation to help safety, etc, but can still loose a lawsuit which basically says the government screwed up creating the rules.

If your gears are messing the odo that much you should really get a Rick's yellow box.
