i read a while ago that car manufacturers intentionally have a 1-2% error when calculating speed. this way if you get pulled over for speeding you can't blame it on the car. so i guess if a cop pulls you over for going 56 in a 55 then he's probably lying.

And to run up higher mileage on the odometer, thus ending the warranty sooner.
Isn't there a class action suit about this issue that's already been settled? The lawyers made a ton but I've seen shiznit on the S2000 or the Si.

Yep. Honda settled out of court and added 5% of the total warranty distance to our warranties. So, in my case, I got 3 years, 37800 miles.

my speedo is jacked.

GPS checked:

@ 45mph speedo reads 55
@ 60mph speedo reads 80
@ 75mph speedo reads 90

My mileage is completely thrown off as well.

These are the numbers ive had to memorize in order not to speed all the time. I also keep a radar det. on hand just for back up. Cant wait till I can get some new wheels/tires.

I did give my girlfriend quite a scare when the speedo read 135!! lol, not sure what the actual speed was though.

did someone change the gears in your car? or are you tire size that far off from stock. something has been changed as it wouldn't be that far off. you're talking about over 20% off.

Front: 205/55/16
Rear: 225/50/16

I am unaware of any gear change from the previous owner.. although that thought has come up before when I raced with other S2k's at an AutoX. I was reaching 4th gear on the long straight when the other S2000's where only about to redline in 3rd before they got off.

i put 245 re01r's on after my 245 050's same exact size, but gps now reads perfect, when before the speedo was like 3-4 mph high depending on your speed. the faster u went, the more inaccurate it was. now its only +2 @ 140 =D

it has to do with the diameter, not the width of the tire. some tires have slightly different diameters

btw there was a lawsuit against honda on the speedo reading ~5% high. i think they were forced to fix this for 06 and up

Someone changed out your gears. What is your RPM in 6th gear around 70 mph?
