help for shipping rims and tires
hey guys,
I may be putting this on a wrong forum but I didn't find any other subforum to talk about this.
I need to send 17" rims wrapped w/ tires from VA to CA and, since Ive never done this before, I would like to ask you experts for the method of shipping and cost as well.
What would be the best and of course cheap way to ship this to CA? Ive heard that some poeple use greyhound. How does this work out? I went to their website and there was nothing about shipping a package or something similar. Do I simply go to the station and ask them?
Im trying to get all four shipped out for around 150. Is this too low?
Any help is appreciated!!

Does anybody know an approx. weight and dimensions of the box with a rim and tire packaged? Im tyring to get an estimate for the shipping. Also, is it better to make four boxes for each, or 2 boxes for pair?

A rim/tire was shipped to me recently and I thought it was clever.
Cut a cardboard in a round shape to cover the face of the rim and just tape it ll around.
The important part is fully protected and no unneccessary weight is added.

I've shipped out some 16's cross country for about 160 with ups. Don't forget insurance, the few bucks might save you hundreds. Tires should be deflated if you're placing it inside a box for extra inch or two of space. To avoid nicks and scratches to the rim I would package them inside a new/newer box.
I would expect the box to be about 25x25x20-23 for a pair depending on width or the tires. Call and get a quote, you'll need weight and size per box.
