Default Help: Shelf Life of New Tires?

How long can I safely store new tires before using them Since Blizzak is discontinuing the MZ-01s, I'm thinking about buying another pair of 225s for the rear. BUT I may not need them for 2 years, since the current ones still have good tread. Any advice would be appreciated

They will disintegrate in about 3 months if not used

On a slightly more serious note, I believe if you keep them tied up in garbage bags, they should last for several years. That's where I keep my spare fronts that I bought in August. I just crush as much air out as possible and tie the bags so they're airtight. This way they have the least exposure to the outside environment. Also you may want to store them in a place that stays about the same temperature year round. Hope that helps Jerry, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Excellent suggestion! Use Glad, since they seem to block out the most light (sunlight is bad). Remember to store the tire flat, not upright like on the car.

They should also be stored more than ten feet away from an electric motor (like your furnace fan motor) because electric motors produce ozone which is bad for the rubber compound.
