I was told that as you get closer to the wear bar's it's less grippy because the carcass is harder. Plan on getting tires ordered tuesday.

I certainly do. That's why the "never advised" the loss of rear grip is permanent, not temp dependent.

For reference, here are the time trial results from the Monticello event a few weeks back: http://www.comscc.org/events/results...?id=2010-05-04

I did a best timed lap in the 2:54's on 205/225 Star Specs vs. the McParland's mostly-stock-for-the-moment S2k in the 2:50's and 2:51's on 4x 255 NT01's.

Not too terribly far off the pace considering narrower street tires vs. wider R-comps.

The point being, my rear star specs at the wear bars hadn't lost much if any grip, I don't think. With 2/32 rear tread depth and 6/32 front tread depth, balance was neutral, it seemed to me a touch more understeer than usual if anything.
