Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 or Kumho Zetum Sport?
just wondering if anyone had any experience w/either tire.
both seem to have gotten good reviews from discount tire customers (where they both are offered). the hankook has a $60 rebate going on right now which brings the price down to only $3/tire. the kumho's have a 320 treadwear vs that of the ventus though (280).

i wasn't clear enough and you clearly took the oppty to misunderstand. what i meant was, after the rebate, the DIFFERENCE btw the price of the 2 tires would only be $3/tire...

Treadwear ratings are only good within the individual brand so they won't do you any good. I carry the Kumho line and have not heard of the tire you mention. The Hankook was rated right behind the Dunlop Star Spec in a test Car and Driver did here.
If I can help with the tires let me know.

I'm running the Hankooks and I really like them. Picked them up through The Tire Rack and used a rebate they had for $50 off the purchase of 4 (qualifying) tires.
I'm on aftermarket wheels so I'm running a 225/40-18 (f) and a 255/35-18 ®. The grip feels pretty exceptional for as hard as I would drive them on public roads, the wet weather is _very_ good (a big consideration here in Florida). The reviews indicates the sidewalls were a touch softer which results in a slightly improved ride, with a slightly reduce "feel" to the turn in (even though the performance was rated #2 in the review Jim mentioned).
One thing many people - myself included - have noted: in the first few hundred miles, you might get a slight "wiggly" feeling, like they're greasy. Apparently this is from the production process (some kind of lube used to remove them from the moldings), but it goes away (and they're not really loose, just feel a little like it).
At under $600 for an 18" set, they're pretty hard to beat. If you're looking for the best performance, the Star Specs are outstanding, but a good bit more (honestly, for very high performance street tires the V112s are perfect, any more grip requirements and I'm on track with dedicated tires anyway).
Also, I did some research and there are a ton of folks on BMW, Porsche, Surbaru, etc. boards running them with outstanding results (both on the street and the track).
