Jim: just looked at the odo last night and my maintenance log and I have over 1200 miles on them. The release compound should wear off by now?
ZDan: without changing anything to the car and the only thing replaced was the tires. With the star spec, I didn't experience any issue at all.
I'm not sure if an alignment will help improve things or not as it track straight. However I will get one done just for good measure. What alignment setting should I go with?
I went with UK alignment and it has been great. The only issue is the front would wear the inside of the tires but it isn't too bad. I have gotten 25-30k on them.

I've found the tires lack some of the response I'm sure higher rated (and priced) tires possess. They perform exactly as I expected them to, and they are heads above many other tires available. To me, there isn't anything "unsettling" about them. I don't see how anyone could expect star spec performance at 2/3 the price. IMHO you get better performance than you pay for, but their not made out of some magical compound.

In no way am I comparing these tires to star spec or re-11. These are not cheap tires either, 136 per tires (star spec was 185 a tire) and I wouldn't consider them on the low end of things. However from what I have experience so far with them, it sure feel and behave like a 100 dollar tires. Even driving in my gf car which is an acura tsx, i felt more confident driving her car than in my car and she has on some 400 threadwear tires!!
Maybe something is wrong with the tires I got
My VSA light keep going on even in mild turns which is very weird and is telling me that the traction is not there or the tires are slippery or even maybe an aligment issue.
I got these at america tire company, maybe I should bring it back to them like their commercial ad say, "if you don't like it, bring it back"
haha

Trade them in for the Federal 595 at les Schwab. You will be better off for the same money spent. That tire is about the best compromise for the money on our car I have found. 240 wear rating, dual ply sidewall and a good overal tread design for dry/wet traction. They run wide and have a rim protector bead on them which I like, but if your on the verge of rubbing as is, you may have an issue.

When I put them in my cart in tirerack it says 245/40ZR17 XL, any idea what the XL means? Its also strange that when I search for s2000 tires they dont show up but they come in s2000 sizes. Did anyone autox on them? How do they feel?
