Default HANKOOK VENTUS R-S3 winter storage

I'm currently looking into buying new tires for this summer. I can see that the HANKOOK VENTUS R-S3 are pretty popular offering good quality and grip for a reasonnable price. But doing my research, I found that it is not recommanded to store them in below freezing temperatures, which is a problem for me being in Quebec and my car is stored in a garage that isn't heated.

"the Ventus R-S3 Version 2, like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored or driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice."

does any of you have an idea what the problem may be for storing the car with these tires at -20C?? Will it damage the rubber or something??

Thanks

At -20C it will most definitely damage the rubber (cause cracking and warpage once they thaw). Store them inside.

Yep throw them in your closet and smell the goodness. Just tell your girlfriend its a new rubber tire air freshener flavor for men

You can put them in a big plastic bag if you want to help contain the smell.

mine stay in my garage all winter at about 10 to 15 degrees C. I have no issues. I wouldn't leave them outdoors, however.

Yeah, thats my problem. The garage I have to store my car has no heater at all... If its -20C outside, its -20C inside!
