Default Hankook RS2 treadlife ?

(MY02, btw) I had these tires put on last October, went over to Truline in SD and got aligned, and haven't really even considered having wear problems.

I will admit, tread on what I would consider still "new" tires isnt something I check too often, but it took a flat tire via a nail one of the rears picked up to make me realize that they're completely (back only, fronts are on their way) bald.

The car has never been autocrossed, and honestly, you guys would consider it sacriligious how slowly I drive this car. I don't race, I don't take corners fast, I just go to and from school, to and from work, to and from the beach.

So 7k miles? Jesus Christ, should I have seen this coming?! I got 37,000 miles from the OEM SO2's. The main selling point on these Hankooks from all the writeups I read here on s2ki were that they had a better treadlife.

*Now looking at all the reviews on other good street tires you guys might reccomend....but this time, w/ a little bit of skepticism

Mine was the same way but the only difference between you and me is that I only got 1000 to 1500. I drive hard. Street most of the time. And no I don't do burn outs. I went to two sets in 2 months. They are good tires. You got lucky going through them at 7000 miles. I switch to ZRI which are alright. I went to them in month and a half now on my second set.

um...more power to you if you can afford to drive like that, but that's some CRAZY fast tire wear. Above poster said even 7k was too soon.

dare i say... if you're ripping through a set of DOT (non-race rubber, blah blah blah) tires in 1K mi of public street driving, there's something seriously wrong. (unless you're constantly drifting, yada yada yada)

this thread makes me glad i bought the Avon M500s instead... although.. purportedly they have short tread life as well..

I've had (on other cars) Kumo 712's, Azenis, SO3s, and all of them lasted more than at least 10k, even under hard driving.

When I get new tires and then aligned I'll find out how off my alignment was.

For now, I could use some sizing help, rears only (For MY02, OEM wheels)

** For Kumho ECSTA SPT **

225/50/16
or
245/50/16

(?)

according to the sticky @ the top, 245/45/16 would be idea, but they don't make the SPT in that size....

thanks guys

Ok, if you drive your car that slow, which i do think is sacriligous why did you get a performance tire? Why not go get an econo tire? Every review I read was not raving about RS2's because of treadlife but how sticky they were, which is why i bought them, and LOVE THEM, they are DIRT cheap and almost as sticky as s02's with about the same treadlife, which brings me to your 30K on s02's, that is a big number on s02's you sure they were s02's? I agree with above posters 7K driving like miss daisy is not right, you should check your alignment. I have about 7K and mine are not bald yet and I drive pretty hard
just my 2 cents

Oops, typo on that. 27,000 miles on the original SO2's. (Then 7k on these hankooks, car now has 34k miles) my bad.

Regardless of how I drive the car, I still think a sports car should have relatively "sporty" tires, and expected 20k out of the tires at the very least, especially comparing the wear ratings between these two tires.

*Any opinions on the SPT sizing ?
