Default Is this guy nuts? Selling Volk Challenges'..

Well, I found these rims for sale on ebay, and got all excited. However, noticed that he listed the rears as 18x8 ET 18. So, I email the guy to double check the offset. He emails me back confirming that it is definitely +18, and I respond by telling him that it's impossible to properly fit anything with less than 43 offset on a 8" wide rim in the rear without considerable rubbing or possible fender damage. I also provide some links to this website. He then tells me that I'm a nut job for suggesting that he could be wrong, and being insistent that it won't fit. He claims that "it came right off the S2000." Well, after that, I sent him quick reply with more factual information - stock offsets, sent him a link to an offset calculator, and told him to call Volk, and even gave him Jim's # at Tirerack.

Some more people should email this guy and tell him he's crazy. He can run 18x8 ET 18 all he wants, well only if he wants to 145/35-18s! And, there'd be better be a giant ass lip on it!! '

Could I possibly be wrong, and run 18x8 ET 18 safely??

Check it out!!

Ask him for pics with the wheels fitted on the S - he must have pictures. If he doesn't then you know he is talking

In fact even without pics, it would seem pretty impossible to run those offsets - I am not an expert off course!

Only way you could physically make this work is if you cut out your fenders and slapped on the +25 mm ASM flares.

Yeah......I think that in reality the rim has a better offset and he just miss typed it. Cause if he knew ANYTHING about wheel offsets he would have investigated more and corrected his mistake.

You can actually run as low as a +38 on an 8 inch wide wheel. Your a little conservative with your guess of +43.

Anyway your correct. He doesnt know what hes talking about, +18? Only way you could physically make this work is if you cut out your fenders and slap on the +25 mm ASM flares. Other than that it wont work period.
Ya, was being a little conservative. You can actually run a lower offset with 8", but with the 43mm on a 8", the largest wheel you can run is a 245. And, with a 38, think it''ll be only a 235.

Heck I wouldn't mind doing a wide body kit, and running 10" wide rim with 18mm offset and a fat lip!

That guy sounds like a "nut job" and would steer very clear of EVER doing business with him or anyone like him for that matter...
