Got Some New Michelin PSS Tires

Interesting because I've had several sets of the OEM RE050 and they've always been great. How much tread was left?
I've also had a set of 17" PSS that felt very average. Good ride from soft sidewalls but sacrifice steering response, just average grip. The PSS 17" 245 rears are narrower than the OEM Bridgestone, and the PSS 215 fronts are wider than stock so you lose the OEM stagger ratio.

The RE050s definitely had stiffer sidewalls. I think that's mostly what contributed to the terrible ride for me. Moving to the shorter sidewall of the 18" PSS helps lessen the difference of sidewall flex. Still through, in terms of grip, they were in completely different leagues. Maybe the RE050s I had (4/32th tread) had been heat cycled into oblivion, I don't know. Either way, I couldn't see recommending the tire to anyone or ever buying it again.
I'll probably upgrade to the RS3 vII next time I get new tires since I'm doing more tracking these days. However for street usage, I can't say I've found a single complaint with the PSS.
