One question though, in this pic above....is that 4x100 writing for the bolt pattern? I thought S2000s is 5x114.3?
Is this pic the exact pic of your wheel?
I hope it means something else!
Or since there's many holes, one wheel fit different bolt patterns?

interesting! i didn't even notice that. the box has the correct pattern indicated, and the shop sending them certainly said they were 5 x 114.3. i guess it does accomodate both? you can see in the first pic that it also says 5 x ... with a different weight rating.

i will have to doublecheck now.

From Tire Rack's website:

stock W rated 225/50/16 S02 has a tread width of 8.5"
BF Goodrich Ta kD gforce in 255/40/17 only has a tread width of 8.2"
while gforce 245/40/17 has a tread width of 7.9"

guess the S02s got them beat.

Eddie - That's interesting news to me. I wonder what the S03's are, tread width wise.

i am not sure i really buy that. the section width of the 245/40/17 g-force is 9.8 inches; the section width of the OE s-02 is 9.2 inches. i understand the geometry of the tire may be different, and that will affect the "tread width," but looking at the two tires next to each other, MOUNTED, i just don't think there's any way the 245 has a smaller tread width, let alone the 255! perhaps the method of measurement is different between different manufacturers. bfg doesn't even list the 'tread width' in their specifications.

i suppose i'll find out (in a way) when they're on the car.
