Its hard to find bigger tires to put on the oem AP1 wheels, however there are numerous tire options that will yield better grip with the same sizes as oem.

Look into Bridgestone RE01R, Dunlop Direzza Star Spec, Toyo R1R, Yokohama AD07, Kumho ECSTA XS, Kumho ECSTA MX, Yokohama AD07, Falken Azenis RT-615

All of those are street tires with very grippy compounds. You will sacrifice longevity to get grip though, so don't expect any of the afore mentioned tires to last as long as the OEMs.

Upgrade your wheels to 17" if you want to run some larger tires.

i have tried those two tires, but i didn't like them because the traction wasn't that great.

Bridgestone RE01R,Falken Azenis RT-615, bridgetone pole position, hankook rs2. (tires that i bought and didn't like due to traction)

i have a greddy turbo charged s2k with 4.56 gears, what brand of tires do you guys recommend.

i was looking at the yokohama s drive.

You can put 245's on the rear. I ran Fuzion Zri in 245/50 IIRC on my AP1's in the rear on the street. What didn't you like about the RE01R's if you don't mind me asking?

i just didn't like the sidewalls, they were really stiff for cornering. so i can put 245/50/16 on my lowered car ? i have the tanabe gf210 that lowers it 1.3 front and 1.5 back.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish if you want sticky tires and no sidewall rigidity? The RE01R is a great tire. Best street tire in that price range, IMO.

Sounds like straight-line grip is desired more than cornering grip.
I seriously doubt that Yoko S.drive's, which are more mileage-oriented Summer tires, will give you the grip you seek. Wider tires that are less sticky won't help you.

I'd consider Nitto drag radials in 245/50-16, but be aware they are ~20mm taller than stock. Also, there's no appropriate matching Nitto front tire to fit the AP1, you'd have to go with good Max or Extreme performance fronts of another brand.

yes, the straight line is more desired than cornering. a tire that has a 50/50 good traction by cornering and on the straight line.

i was thinking of these options...

kuhmo ecsta mx
yokohama s drive
potenzas re-01

which one is going to be the best bang for the buck tire?

I don't get it. You want a tire that is great in a straight line, but you didn't like the RE01R's because of how they handled in the corners?

I don't think you fully understand how the RE01R's are supposed to feel in the corners. They are one of the stickiest tires you can buy for road use and are phenomenal in corners. I would be willing to bet that you were running too high of pressures, or you simply don't know what to look for in cornering stability.
