GOD AWFUL Experience with a Tire Installer!
#1
I ordered new rear tires from the Tire Rack and opted to have them sent to their recommended installer here, The Car Doctor. I got the shipping confirmation but after 8 days I hadn't heard from The Car Doctor. I tracked the tires through UPS and found they had been delivered 8 days ago. I hadn't received a call from The Car Doctor so I called them. Sure enough, they'd had them for 8 days and didn't bother to call me. Hmmmmm.
So I made an appointment. $16.00 to install them. Not bad.
I got there yesterday and met the owner, Dr. Val Boudreau (PHD in philosophy and former school administrator who wanted (had to find) a career change and bought a garage). Sure enough, my tires were sitting in the middle of their office. I looked around and didn't see any other tires in the whole place. Strange.
Not feeling that things were just right, I decided to ask again how much this was going to cost me. "Probably $50.00" the doctor said! $50.00! I protested and he explained "those wheels are a special alloy and we have to be careful with them. Not just anybody can do this. We'll have to put them on our special machine."
My sphinctor muscles started to hurt. Not having any options, I decided to let them do it and I'd just have to pay their price.
Later that day I was told that someone thought they saw my car at another tire dealer. I got in my truck and went to this other dealer and sure enough, my car was sitting on their lot! I went in and found that The Car Doctor had brought it to them. "We do all the Car Doctor's work. I don't think they even do tires" I was told by the nice lady there.
My blood pressure went hyper critical! I told her that I would pay the bill ($20.00, not $50 quoted by the Car Doctor) and take my car. She agreed.
The worst part of this whole experience was that when I got in my car, I realized that the Car Doctor guy had taken my car for a joy ride and put 14 miles on it! These places are only 2 miles apart!
I'm fuming mad!! If I get my hands on Dr. Boudreau I'll show him what aching sphinctor muscles are all about!
I think I'll sue him for fraudulent business practices. YEA! That's it. Then I can retire! (Get it?)
Anybody got Preparation H?

Wow, that sucks big time!
I usually try to stay there when they install tires, shouldn't take long at all!
Make sure they even put the tires on the right way, meaning directional arrow is rotating forward.

The proper way to deal with this is to take a baseball bat to his kneecaps. Just make sure you're wearing a ski mask when you do it!
j/k
I dunno though!

Perhaps you should have a "talk" to the Car Doctor and then afterwards he can go and visit a Person Doctor

If you need tires put on in Raleigh. Take them to Leith BMW on Capital Blvd ($55/ pair) they are top notch. It is right next to the Honda dealer. My Dealer's service department had enough concern for my car to tell me that their machine was not up to par to handle this tricky job. In addition, the BMW service department offered to let me drive around in a BMW 330CI while my car was getting serviced!
Also, Avoid NTB in Cary they are A$$holes. They screwed up 4-wheels on my Prelude and one wheel on my S.

How much damage could be done in 14 miles????????
I don't want to know Not too much I would say, but that is still highly unprofessional....A lot of wheel places do not take the time to care for expensive stock wheels...discount tire does.

It depends on the skill level, consideration and carefulness that a car thief would exhibit! I'm sure he wouldn't:
drop the clutch at 8000rpm
VTEC a cold engine
attempt to drift on those bald tires
run into some body
have somebody run into him.
All things considered, I count myself (and him) fortunate.
