I agree, if you stay in the same category of tire the handling is going to be very similar. Just match them with the same tire when the fronts wear out.
If I can help let me know.

Don't throw away good tires. Just replace the tires in the rear with ones of similar performance and you're good to go.

What would be a good rear match for OEM RE050 fronts? I was think Star Spec. I would have no intentions of driving these on the track. I plan to get second set of wheels with R-compound tires.

some new 050's?

the issue with matching re-01's is that bridgestone doesn't make them anymore

The RE050's ride is terrible. You might as well be rolling on bricks. Most other tires provide comparable grip while not jarring your fillings.

What do you guys think of the federal 595 rs-r tires to match with front RE-01r's?

Gah I am in the same exact situation--bald rear re01s and good fronts.

Pistol- what size are your font's lol. I am on 225/45/17's on the front that are good..
Fronts are 215's, which are a good deal wider that the stock 215's.

I think I will go with just RE-11's in the rear. Then decide if the front are good enough with that set up.

Holy cow man! That difference is huge! I'll have to remember that the differences can be that big between brands. Thanks for posting that.

just get 2 RE11 for the rear. I don't think it's a huge prob as long as the performance category is the same.
