Default Future S2000 owner with a couple questions

Originally I was looking to get an 03 S2000, but after reading the FAQ I'm leaning more towards an 04/05.

The first thing I'd want to do immediately is get a new set of rims and low profile tires. I would like a staggered setup, 18's all around.

For the rears, what would be a good size for a wider/more aggressive look? I would prefer not to roll the fenders, but if I have to I will. And for matching tires, what size would I need for any recommended setup? Also I do not want any rubbing, like from fenders or front fender liner.

And my last questions are about the struts. Who makes adjustable struts that require no modification to mount(I do not want stiff coilovers) and should I lower it? I wouldn't know how much clearance there would be with stock springs and new rims/tires, how much more should I go so it has a lowered aggressive look, but not tucking the tires?

thanks for all help.

I think in the end, its all up to you. How about visiting the gallery and checking out ALL the cars...then deciding which part of what car you want to copy!

But since you asked...

IMHO; 18s are too big. 17s look much nicer, since with 18s youre running on almost no rubber, your suspension will feel even STIFFER if you get Coilovers. The more agressive you run, the more problems you'll run into, Right now, I have 5zigs 17's +48 offset , at 7.5"/8.5" fr/rr, on bilstein PSS coilovers, and the tires are flush! -2.7camber on back

Lots of people make adjustable coilovers...but if you mean adjustable struts, I think you're looking at Konis. Now if you lower your car, youre gonna want stiffer springs or stiffer dampers or youre going to bottom your car out!

Again, imho, it looks better with a 2 finger gap, lower than stock but not slammed.

Just my 2cents! Read up a LOT about the cars before you pick em up

search, search, search and search haha. But really these are all very common questions so just looking around a little bit you will find all the info you need on what wheels/tires will fit etc.

I guess your lowering strictly for looks since youve come to this conclusion before having any seat time on stock suspension

This thread should help with your decision regarding wheels. tires and whether or not to lower your future ride.

thanks.

The reason I asked about lowering it is because I don't know if the aftermarket rims with a low profile tire will make it look like a mini monster truck, you know where the gap increases between the fender and tire?

If it looks good without having to lower, I probably won't.

imho, I don't like the stock gap. My friend's 05 looks like it goes off roading compared to mine. 18s are just right, not that I'm biased or anything.

Make sure you read the topics people referenced above, its good reading.

It really comes down to personal preference, some here will tell you to lower the car, while others prefer stock ride height. The car looks fine at stock ride height with 18" wheels, there will be about two and a half finger gap between the bottom of the fenders and the top of the tires. If you want to lower it, coilovers are the way to go. Another cheaper alternative is lowering springs, they will lower your car about 3/4 to 1.5" depending on the brand.

The search function button will offer more information than I can possibly write here.
Good luck!
