Excessive inside edge wear... on the front???
Sorry if this has been covered before, but I don't trust the search function any more.
I was removing all four wheels today for cleaning and inspection, and was happy to see that with almost 18K, I still have several thousand more miles to go before I have to replace the rears. In fact, the rears appear to be wearing nearly evenly. The fronts however are not. My right front tire has excessive inside edge wear, almost down to the treadwear indicators. The left front can't be used for comparison as it was replaced recently after an accident and still looks new.
Is this normal? I expected the rears to show this kind of wear, not the fronts. I will have an alignment done at the next service when I have TSB 054 done.

It is normal, with the alignment that our cars have, for the inside of the tires to wear first. Usually the rear tires are worn on the inside as well as the fronts. I usually change my rear tires at 12,000 miles. and the fronts will go twice that long.

If you are more concerned about tire wear than crisper steering response, have the front toe set to 0. Uneven or aggressive toe settings will wear your tires more unevenly than aggressive camber settings.

My front tires wear on the outside the most. I just had them "rotated" a few weeks ago because of this. And by rotated I mean unmounted and remounted properly, not a standard rotation of course.
