Default Engine braking.

Just curious what everyone thinks about engine braking. I have been doing it and am curious if its worth the stress on the engine, or should it rather be put on the brakes.

I down shift when stopping. My mechanic told me that it does wear on the tranny and clutch, but I shouldn't worry about it.

Though, if I am pulling up to a light with a cop right in front of me, I just use my brakes.
