Default Effects of upgrading

I'm going to upgrade from stock to 18" rims this spring. What can I expect as far as differences in driving, speed, braking ???

Thanks,

TJ

Miracles in driving! There are some instances where I'd swear I can't tear this thing loose! See my sig.

So performance increases all around. I've been reading that increasing wheel size makes your car slower?? Why is that.

It is not that simple. It would depend on the tire and wheels you choose. If you get a heavy wheel the suspension will have to work harder and the car will be a little harder to brake and accelerate. If you get a wheel like the SSR Comp the wheels are actually lighter than the OE Honda wheels so you get the benefit of increased width tires and wheels and at the saem time reducing the unsprung weight.
The aspect is the tire you choose. There are some tires that are not as good handling as the S02 that came on the car.
So it is not a clear cut answer. If I can help let me know.

Some mods are going to have disadvantages. If my car's slower, so be it. The disadvantage of having a slower car are far offset by the increased traction I've gained, the increased braking, the better control and the fact that I just made a 90 degree right turn at 27 miles per hour the other day and stayed in my own lane without breaking loose.

Wow! I'm going to be a twin! Should I start handing out cigars?

You should know that this setup does put the edge of the tire far enough out that the fenders get dirty easily. Of course that also means the footprint is wider making it more stable.

I fantasize that I look like a Viper from the rear. Of course they have 335's so of course it's strictly a dream, but the 265's are definitely impressive.

Finally a caveat. These tires do not rub on a stock height roadster, but do not get the idea that you're ever going to lower your car or the fenders will be sitting on the tires.
